Admiral's House History

An echo of the island's history

This residence constitutes an old neoclassical mansion which was built before the year 1845 by Ioannis and Marigo Pipinoy.
The house was given the year 1923 as dowry by Marigo to her daughter Dioni, with the occasion of her marriage with Lambros Lambiris, big tradesman of that period.
Dioni and her family Ioannis, Electra, Amalia and Periandros used this house as their permanent residence up to 1945, with a small interruption from 1936 until 1942 where they returned to Rhodes island because professional obligations of her spouse, Lambros. From 1945 till a few years back the residence was used as a summerresidence by Dioni, her children and their families.
Each summertime the house was filled with laughs, joy and voices of Dioni’s grandchildren (Lampros, Dimitris, Dioni P., Electra, DioniI. and Maria) as well as, from “moysafirides¨(visitors) that passed each day and sat in the courtyard, enjoying the splendid view of the sea from the veranda.
In the winter, the house was delivered in the fury of strong air waves and rain, standing however upright in order to welcome all of us again the following summertime.
After the years, the house due to its location near the seafront suffered from deteriorations. Then I and my husband Vasilis decided to renovate the house givingthe name of “Admiral’s House Periandros Lambiris” in order to honor my father, who loved this house and fought with his brother and sisters so many years in order to keep it standing.
I believe that all these efforts were not wasted, and the residence has again acquired its glamour and glory.

I am Dioni, daughter of Admiral Periandros Lambiris.
